Will Bank Indonesia cut its benchmark interest rate before April 1?

About Market

Market Summary

This market centers on whether Bank Indonesia will cut its benchmark interest rate before April 1, using the arrival of that date as the defining milestone in the comparison. The approach of April establishes a fixed temporal boundary against which any monetary policy adjustment must occur, focusing attention on official rate decisions within that window. Traders are assessing whether a formal announcement of a benchmark rate reduction will take place prior to April 1, turning scheduled or unscheduled central bank meetings into the decisive events measured against that time-based cutoff.

Rules
  1. Market Outcomes and Resolution Criteria: This market resolves to “YES” if Bank Indonesia officially announces a reduction in its benchmark interest rate (BI-Rate or 7-Day Reverse Repo Rate) at any scheduled or unscheduled meeting before 23:59 WIB on March 31, 2026. It resolves to “NO” if no rate cut is announced before that time, if the rate is held or increased, or if no meeting occurs. There is no TIE outcome in this market.
  2. Definition of Rate Cut: A “rate cut” means a formally announced decrease in the benchmark policy rate level relative to the immediately preceding officially announced rate. Changes to other policy tools or forward guidance without a reduction in the benchmark rate do not qualify.
  3. Eligible Meetings and Announcements: Both scheduled and unscheduled monetary policy meetings qualify, provided the decision is officially announced by Bank Indonesia before 23:59 WIB on March 31, 2026. The relevant time is determined using Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
  4. Official Sources and Evidence: Resolution is based exclusively on official press releases or monetary policy statements published by Bank Indonesia on its official website. Secondary media reports may be used for confirmation but cannot override official publications.
  5. Revisions and Corrections: The market resolves according to the first official announcement of the rate decision. Subsequent clarifications alter the outcome only if Bank Indonesia formally corrects or withdraws the original decision before resolution.
  6. Resolution Timing: The market will be reviewed after each qualifying announcement and resolved as soon as reasonably practical once a definitive outcome is established, or after 00:00 UTC April 1, 2026 if no rate cut has occurred.
