Will Crude Oil (CL) hit $150 by end of March 16?
About Market
This market centers on whether the price of WTI crude oil futures can reach a specified price threshold before the reference cutoff at the end of the stated observation period. The closing point of this window serves as a temporal milestone that defines the timeframe during which qualifying price movements are considered relevant, separating valid price events from those occurring outside the measurement horizon. Traders are assessing whether crude oil market dynamics will push futures pricing to that level relative to the milestone, weighing supply conditions, geopolitical developments, macroeconomic indicators, and energy demand expectations to determine whether the threshold will be reached before the cutoff.
- Market Outcomes and Resolution Criteria: This market resolves to “YES” if the official CME settlement price of the Active Month WTI Crude Oil (CL) futures contract is recorded by CME Group as equal to or greater than $150 USD on any trading day on or before 16 March 2026, 00:00:00 UTC. It resolves to “NO” if no such qualifying settlement price is recorded by that deadline. There is no TIE outcome in this market.
- Definition of “Active Month” and Applicable Settlement Price: For this market, the “Active Month” means the nearest designated delivery month for WTI Crude Oil (CL) futures that is not the spot month, as defined by CME Group at the relevant time. If the contract rolls during the market period, the next eligible contract automatically becomes the Active Month. The “settlement price” is the official daily settlement published by CME; intraday highs, last trades, bid/ask quotes, or indicative prices do not qualify.
- Official Sources and Evidence: Primary sources are the official settlement prices published by CME Group for the Active Month WTI Crude Oil (CL) futures contract. Secondary sources such as TradingView or Investing.com may be used to corroborate the value and timing if CME data is temporarily unavailable, but cannot override clear, later-dated CME publications or corrections.
- Handling Non-Trading Days: Only trading days for which CME publishes an official settlement price are eligible for determination. If 16 March 2026 is not a trading day, only settlement prices published prior to 16 March 2026, 00:00:00 UTC are considered.
- Resolution Timing: The market will normally be resolved as soon as reasonably practical after 16 March 2026, 00:00:00 UTC, once it is clear from official CME data whether a qualifying settlement occurred before the deadline.
- Ambiguities and Disputes: If there is conflicting information regarding the settlement price or applicable contract, clear and later-dated CME publications take precedence. In any remaining ambiguous case not explicitly covered above, the resolver will apply these rules to determine whether, as of 16 March 2026, 00:00:00 UTC, the official CME settlement price reached or exceeded $150 USD.
