Will SpaceX close above $2T on IPO day?
About Market
This market centers on whether SpaceX’s market capitalization at the close of its first public trading day will exceed the specified threshold, using that IPO closing event as the defining reference point. The first day of trading serves as a critical milestone, marking the company’s transition into public markets and establishing an initial market-driven valuation based on investor demand and price discovery. Traders are assessing whether SpaceX’s valuation will surpass the defined level at that closing moment, weighing anticipated IPO pricing, investor sentiment, and market conditions to determine whether the threshold will be exceeded relative to that reference event.
- Market Outcomes and Resolution Criteria: This market resolves to “YES” if SpaceX’s market capitalization, calculated using the official closing price on SpaceX’s first day of public trading, is strictly greater than $2 trillion USD, and that first trading day occurs before 23:59 UTC December 31, 2026. It resolves to “NO” if SpaceX completes its IPO and first trading day before the deadline and the resulting market capitalization is less than or equal to $2 trillion USD. It resolves to “Tie” if no SpaceX IPO occurs before 23:59 UTC December 31, 2026, or if no official closing price is recorded by that deadline; in the event of a Tie resolution, all positions settle at $0.50 per share.
- Definition of Market Capitalization and IPO Closing Price: “Market capitalization” means the total value of SpaceX’s outstanding shares, calculated as the number of shares outstanding multiplied by the official closing share price on the first day of trading. The “closing price” refers exclusively to the official end-of-day price published by the primary listing exchange; intraday prices, indicative prices, or unofficial estimates do not qualify.
- Official Sources and Evidence: The primary source for resolution is the official listing and trading data published by the primary exchange on which SpaceX is listed. If the market capitalization is not explicitly displayed, it will be calculated using officially reported shares outstanding and the official closing price. Secondary reliable financial data providers may be used for corroboration but cannot override clear or later-dated official exchange publications.
- Handling Trading Interruptions and First-Day Definition: If trading on SpaceX’s first day is interrupted (e.g., circuit breakers or shortened sessions), the official closing price of that session is used. If no official closing price is published for that day, the next trading day with an official closing price will be treated as the first trading day for purposes of this market.
- Resolution Timing: The market will be resolved as soon as reasonably practical after SpaceX’s first qualifying trading day and official closing price are published, or after 23:59 UTC December 31, 2026 if no IPO occurs before the deadline.
- Ambiguities and Disputes: If there is conflicting information regarding the closing price, shares outstanding, or calculated market capitalization, official exchange data takes precedence. In any remaining ambiguous case, the resolver will apply these rules using the most authoritative available data to determine whether the $2 trillion threshold was exceeded.
